noun | re·spite | a short period of rest or relief
Being the primary caregiver for a child or adult with developmental disabilities can be emotionally draining and often times very demanding. For long-term caregivers, a break, a chance to breathe, a moment of respite is critical to ensure that their loved ones get the care and attention they need and deserve. Alta Home Care is grateful and honored to partner with our local regional centers and the families they serve to provide that break at just the right time. Our compassionate caregivers are extensively trained and are well-prepared to handle the challenging behaviors in children and adults.
Providing respite care will allow families to:
- Spend 1:1 time with their other children
- Go on a date
- Spend time with friends
- Finally get “me time”
- Attend a support group
- Go to a movie
- Take an uninterrupted nap
- Include the child in a family party/event by having 1:1 supervision
- Take a weekend vacation
- Run errands
- Get a massage/pedicure
- Take a walk or exercise
These activities and others give long-term caregivers the time and resources needed to recharge and reset in their care for their loved ones.
